MASTERMAX
Prepare your surface
Prior to applying DECKMAX decking stain to your timber deck, it's vital to prepare the surface thoroughly. We suggest using "MASTERMAX - PREPMAX" to effectively clean and prep all timber surfaces, regardless of weathering, discolouration, staining, or mould. This step is essential for achieving a stunning and durable finish.
GUIDE FOR USING MASTERMAX PREPMAX:
-
Clear the deck of all furniture.
-
Cleanse the area by sweeping or washing it with water to remove surface dirt.
-
Thoroughly shake the PREPMAX concentrate.
-
Dilute 1 part PREPMAX with 4 parts water in a plastic container. This mixture should cover around 10-15 square metres, depending on the timber's texture and absorbency.
-
Dampen the timber area with clean water.
-
After waiting 10-15 minutes, gently scrub the boards.
-
Using a stiff bristle broom or brush, generously apply the PREPMAX mixture to the timber surface, ideally along the full length of each piece of timber. Scrub vigorously to ensure effective foaming.
-
Allow the mixture to sit on the timber surface for approximately 15 minutes. Additional application may be necessary to maintain surface wetness.
-
Thoroughly rinse the timber surface with a low-medium pressure wash down.
-
Ensure the timber surface is completely dry before applying the coating.
-
Check for any missed spots and repeat cleaning in small areas if needed.
TIPS FOR DECKMAX DECKING STAIN:
-
Always conduct a colour test beforehand to ensure your chosen DECKMAX shade achieves the desired result on the actual timber being stained. Note that the wet colour will darken upon drying.
-
Apply DECKMAX along the entire length of the boards while maintaining a wet edge to prevent overlapping. Treating 2-3 boards at a time is optimal.
-
For enhanced durability and protection, apply two coats of DECKMAX.
